The Android security overview of week 2
Android on the Planet, we pay regular attention to updates that devices receive. Many of the new Android versions, when phones, for example, be updated to Android 9.0 (Pie). We have also the Android 9.0 update-summary, where you can see exactly if and when your phone receive an update.
But manufacturers also bring throughout the year by updates, and which are often just as important. Although they are not major new features contain, will you still be protected against all of the (critical) security vulnerabilities on a monthly basis appear. Every week, makes Android Planet is a list with the updates of the last seven days. It comes to updates, which in the Netherlands are being rolled out, though it may sometimes happen that one provider before the turn than the other. Sometimes so you have to wait another week.
A new month also means a new security update. That is usually the first to be available for Google’s own smartphones. These times were some of the Samsung devices just a bit earlier, but with the Pixels you stand in the front of the queue for fresh software. This Google Pixel smartphones are therefore protected against all known vulnerabilities in Android.

The main update this week comes from Xiaomi. Last month, an Mi A1-update for the device suddenly no 4G coverage it had for many providers. This was the Mi A1 for many users in the past weeks unusable. The update of January, this week rolling out, solves the problem finally. For the Pocophone F1 is a big update with new features.

The sub-brand of Huawei has also started the roll out of the Android Pie. This week is the top-class device, the Honor 10, of Pie. The update now seems to most Dutch users.

At Nokia, they seem like the Android updates faster to roll out than many other manufacturer. This week is the Nokia 8 Sirocco on the turn. The expensive device was published in early 2018 and was not very popular, but can still on full support. There is an old security update, all of January, probably not too long to wait.

From Motroola this week only a handful of the older security updates. This pair is now reasonably protected against known vulnerabilities in Android.

Hold your smartphone in the holes
If your device is not in the list? No need to panic, because some manufacturers bring updates as possible until later. And even if your phone is in the list, it is sometimes just a matter of waiting. Often it takes a few days before an update all copies of a smartphone reached.
